We had some major successes and major failures this year, and since I didn’t chronicle them in real time (I guess that counts as one of our failures) I’m going to list them all here. We also have some very specific plans coming up for the winter and next year you can expect to hear more about. Finally, there are some general ideas we’re tossing around that we still need to settle on and decide a timeline for.
Our family is comprised of Halloween fanatics. Jeremy in particular is an artist when it comes to Halloween displays and every year grows our display. This year’s display is particularly impressive not only because he’s been working on it since April (yes, April) but because most of what we’ve used to expand our display has all been reclaimed and repurposed. Most of the material was left over garbage from Jeremy’s work that he saved from the land fill.
Here are some pre Halloween night pics:
I’d like to get a few things out of the way as I start this blog. I am not doing this to paint a portrait of my perfect family. We are not perfect, not as a family, nor as individuals (although in my somewhat biased opinion, Jeremy comes pretty close). I read a lot of homesteading and natural living blogs that do a pretty good job of painting a perfect picture, and a lot of criticisms of those blogs for doing so. I’m sure those families and bloggers lives are not as picturesque as they seem. Everyone puts their best foot forward when in the public eye. But it is not my intention to do that.
